Interventionism always wins

If by “wins” you mean “ends up being a waste of life, liberty, and property”.

The plot to blow up an American passenger jet over Detroit was organized and launched by al Qaeda leaders in Yemen who apparently sewed bomb materials into the suspect’s underwear before sending him on his mission, federal authorities tell ABC News.

It’s obviously time for U.S. intervention in Yemeni politics. I’m thinking some good, old fashioned regime change. After all, no sense in all that cold, hard cash just sitting there in our nation’s coffers collecting dust.

I’m reminded of one of Ron Paul’s favorite points about 9/11: we’re wasting life and money over in the Middle East to keep Al Qaeda off their game, when in reality, the 9/11 Commission confirmed that the attacks were planned on U.S. soil. Since U.S. hawks didn’t hesitate to declare war on the U.S. (through systematic assault on civil liberties and ongoing devastation of our already tenuous economic stability), why should they pull their punches regarding Yemen?

After all, if we don’t do something, it’ll be up to “alert and courageous passengers and crew members” to handle things like this. Can’t have that — ordinary people sometimes fail; government always succeeds with flying colors.
